  • One of our leading NHS clients is looking for experienced mental health nurses to cover shifts in acute hospitals in London.

    Description:

    Band 5 nurses work closely with the people who use our services, their families, friends, and carers, making a significant contribution to their experience of our services. They use clinical judgment and risk assessments to keep service users as safe as possible.

    • Safeguard individuals by recognizing and responding when someone might be at risk of abuse, understanding their limits, and escalating concerns when necessary.
    • Escalate safety concerns, acting as effective advocates for those who use our services.
    • Be open and transparent about their own practice.
    • Supervise the work of others.
    • Reflect on daily practice to identify areas for safety or quality improvements.
    • Work with others to create a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Maintain accurate, legible, and comprehensive records.
    • Stay compliant with mandatory training requirements.
    • Provide skilled, evidence-based nursing care that adheres to agreed policies and procedures.
    • Work with patients and families throughout the care planning process, including assessing risks and needs.
    • Act as patient advocates in the multidisciplinary team and oversee others' work to ensure they respond to patients' needs and provide clinically effective care.
    • Work autonomously, taking responsibility for the care given to patients within their own limits of competency and confidence.

    Skills & Experience Required:

    • At least 12 months of post-registration NHS experience.
    • Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, acting accordingly if untoward changes occur.
    • Ability to keep accurate records.
    • Knowledge of medication rounds and the safe administration of drugs.
    • Practical experience in providing high-quality care and exceeding expectations.
    • Ability to build constructive relationships with warmth and empathy using effective communication skills (with colleagues and service users).
    • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
    • Use of initiative under minimal supervision.
    • Ability to participate in and provide management and clinical supervision.
