Senior Occupational Therapist
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join the team at one of the NHS Trust in Midlands. Description:
This role is ideal for a highly skilled professional with acute NHS experience, focusing on general medicine, discharge planning, and frailty management. You will be joining a dynamic inpatient team, working in a fast-paced environment where your expertise will directly contribute to patient care and recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions to inpatients with a range of complex needs, focusing on general medicine, frailty, and discharge planning.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, ensuring patient-centered care.
- Facilitate safe and effective discharge planning, including liaising with community services and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Work closely with patients, families, and carers to provide education, advice, and support regarding occupational therapy interventions and goals.
- Contribute to developing and implementing policies, procedures, and guidelines that support delivering effective and safe occupational therapy services.
- Actively participate in team meetings, case conferences, and clinical supervision to promote best practices and continuous professional development.
Requirements:
- HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with relevant Band 6 experience.
- Proven experience in an acute NHS setting, particularly in general medicine, discharge planning, and managing frailty.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to delivering high standards of patient care and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Skills:
- Strong clinical skills in assessing and treating a range of conditions.
- Ability to detect the deteriorating patient
- Ability to risk assess patient assessment, treatment and discharge
- Ability to assess and treat motor and sensory skills as well as physical functioning
- Ability to assess and treat cognitive and affective impairment, its impact on function, ability of the patient to maintain their health and safety
- Ability to structure holistic assessment and the OT process within a framework that provides clear clinical reasoning for recommendations made in relation to a patient's needs and care pathway
- Evidence of CPD
